Wire for high current links

Within the High Lumi project, MgB₂ based superconductive links have the core role to guarantee a robust, performing and safe way to carry electricity from the power supplies to the coils. This solution allows to move the power supplies in a safe and accessible area without the high losses a copper path would have implied. The multifilamentary wire is produced entirely by ASG Superconductors, from the raw materials up to the final surface treatment, using an industrial process and commercial cold working machines. Both electrical and mechanical properties are kept under control, to match the challenging requirements asked for such a peculiar and high-quality application. The wire is capable of withstand an industrial-scale cabling process to create the final cable architecture designed.
