ITER TF coil N.8 is ready for shipment
14/01/2021
ITER, which in Latin means “the way”, is the largest international experiment paving the way for fusion energy. Seven parties are producing the largest Tokamak device to test magnetic confinement. It will allow scientists to study a “burning plasma” that will produce a greater thermal output (500 MW) than the one used (50 MW) for about 7 minutes. The Toroidal Field (TF) coils are “D” shaped magnets, whose core task in the ITER device is the confinement of plasma. Europe will manufacture 10 out of the 18 TF coils, the remaining will be produced by Japan. ASG Superconductors S.p.A. is very proud to work side by side everyday with other international companies involved in the project and with Fusion for Energy. Special thanks to all our people in ASG, we delivered another big and sophisticated magnet in spite of the challenges posed by Covid. We keep safe, stay strong and continue to deliver!
