Energy Storage - DRYSMES4GRID

DRYSMES4GRID, a national project cofounded by the Ministry of Economic Development, held its kick-off meeting at Columbus Superconductors facilities in Genoa. The project aims at demonstrating the feasibility of energy storage in an MgB₂-based SMES device. The device will operate in a cryogenic-free environment, and it will be accompanied by a specifically designed power-electronic circuit to interface the system to the grid. The project will have a duration of three years and it involves many prestigious partners, including University of Bologna, CNR-SPIN, RSE, ICAS as well as Columbus as a project coordinator.
